Woohoo! How fun is this?! My first piece of rust dyed fabric, “dyed” on James Thompson’s cotton sateen. I can see this will be just the beginning…tee hee hee.

I really like your work. I just tried rust printing this weekend and wasn’t sure how to stabilize the fabric afterwards. I did a search on rust prints and found you. At another site, someone posted that using a baking soda solution is necessary.
Can you tell me if soaking the fabric in a baking soda solution and then washing the material in a washing machine is what I should do? What amounts or proportion of baking soda to water should be used? What kind of laundry soap?
I’d appreciate any advice you could give me.
Thanks very much.
